What is 3K in Wisconsin, and how does Kiddie Kare A'Kademie's program compare?
3K (Three-Year-Old Kindergarten) is a voluntary early childhood education program available in Wisconsin. The Kenosha Unified School District (KUSD) offers public 3K at some locations, but many Kenosha families choose private 3K programs for specific reasons.
At Kiddie Kare A'Kademie, our 3K program offers advantages that public 3K doesn't:
- Extended hours: Before care starting at 6:00 AM and after care until 5:30 PM, so working parents don't need a second childcare arrangement
- Smaller class sizes: Your child gets more individual attention from teachers
- Familiar environment: If your child started in our Elmo Room at age 2, the transition to 3K is seamless
- Continuity: The same center, the same trusted teachers, and a curriculum that builds on what your child already knows
- Meals included: Breakfast and snacks at no extra charge in our 100% nut-free Kenosha center
What does a typical 3K day look like at Kiddie Kare A'Kademie?
What comes before and after 3K at Kiddie Kare A'Kademie?
Many children enter the Zoe Room from our Elmo Room (two-year-old program), where they've already learned counting to 10, colors, shapes, and name recognition. Children new to Kiddie Kare A'Kademie are also welcome in 3K.
After 3K, your child moves to the Bert Room (Pre-K/K4 program), our kindergarten readiness class. Pre-K graduates at Kiddie Kare A'Kademie count to 100, write their name, recognize all 26 letters and sounds, and perform basic addition and subtraction. They enter kindergarten at Kenosha-area schools like Jeffrey Elementary and other KUSD schools confident and prepared.
