What is K4 in Wisconsin, and how does Kiddie Kare A'Kademie compare to KUSD 4K?
K4 (Four-Year-Old Kindergarten) is Wisconsin's voluntary early education program for children who turn 4 by September 1. The Kenosha Unified School District (KUSD) offers 4K at various locations throughout Kenosha.
Many Kenosha families choose Kiddie Kare A'Kademie's Pre-K program instead of or in addition to KUSD 4K. Here's why:
- Smaller class sizes with more individual attention from teachers your child already knows
- Extended hours from 6:00 AM to 5:30 PM (no need for separate before and after care)
- A familiar center and daily routine, especially for children who started with us in the Zoe Room at age 3
- Breakfast and two snacks included daily at no extra charge
- A curriculum refined over 35 years that builds directly on what your child learned the year before
Does Kiddie Kare A'Kademie have a preschool graduation?
Yes. At the end of the Pre-K year, graduates receive a certificate of completion during a special ceremony. By this point, your child is truly ready for kindergarten with the academic skills, social confidence, and love of learning they need to succeed at Jeffrey Elementary and other Kenosha-area schools.
It's a proud moment for families and for our teaching staff, who have watched these children grow from toddlers into confident, capable students ready for the next chapter.
What comes before and after Pre-K at Kiddie Kare A'Kademie?
Most Pre-K students enter the Bert Room from our Zoe Room (3K preschool), where they've already learned letter recognition, counting to 31, and beginning handwriting. New families are also welcome to join at the Pre-K level.
After Pre-K, your child moves to kindergarten at their local school. We offer before and after school care in the Big Bird Room for school-age children, with bus service to Jeffrey Elementary. Many families continue with us for years after Pre-K graduation.
